Things I can’t say no to

Everyone has their weaknesses and obsessions. Everyone has their thing that they just can’t say no too. For some people it’s ice cream for others it’s coffee. I have a friend who has a big collection of OPI nail polish.

For me, these are things that every time I’m in a store and I see it I buy it, no questions asked. The following are the items where most of my money goes.

Things I can’t say No to:

Books

I mean this one was obvious since 75% of this blog is about books. If I hear about a good book or if I see a book that looks interesting I will buy it. I won’t even think twice about it. Oh this book has a pretty cover I need it. Oh I’ve heard amazing things about this book I need it. I swear I have a different package in the mail every day of a book I’ve recently bought. I drop some major dollars on books and my library is quite extensive.

Not a photo of my library but I could definitely re-create this

Makeup

Guys, when I was in high school I didn’t give two licks about makeup. But when I turned 21 I was all about the makeup life and now here I am at 25 with absolutely no will power. I LOVE lipstick I have zero will power when it comes to pretty lips colors. I can’t go to Sephora or Ulta or hell, even Walmart without buying something new for my makeup collection. I can’t even tell you how many lipsticks I own. I like pretty things. And I like that makeup makes me feel pretty (yes I know I don’t need makeup to be pretty but I like it!). If there’s some new hot product you know I won’t be able to say no to it because I love makeup.

This is one of my favorite lipstick formulas. My goal is to get every shad in the collection and as you can see I’m close.

Notebooks

I love journaling. I love writing. I love notebooks. I love blank notebooks with all the potential to be filled with whatever it is my brain creates. I carry with me FIVE notebooks every single day. I’m not in school and the notebooks I carry have nothing to do with studying. I just like notebooks. So, back-to-school season is my favorite because my love for notebooks can be embraced without breaking my bank account.

Pens

Again, another reason why I love back to school season. Pens and notebooks go hand in hand. One is completely useless without the other. Which doesn’t help my addiction. I like pens and markers and things that help me create and that’s why every time I see my favorite pens in a new color or new pens that I haven’t tried before I can’t say no.

I own every single shade of this particular pen and carry them around with me every where I go, every single day.

Sunglasses

I recently did a sunglasses collection declutter. Guys, I had 23 pairs of sunglasses. TWENTY THREE pairs. For one human? That’s absurd. I realize that it’s ridiculous. So, I downsized from 23 pairs to 16 pairs. That was a big step for me. I have a pair that can match any outfit. My sweet dear cousin Olivia does not know that I can’t say no to sunglasses and recently sent me a link to a new style I don’t yet own and they were super cheap so I bought two pairs. Now I have that to look forward too. I have a problem. It’s fine.

This is a picture of my actual sunglasses collection before I decluttered.

If you could only see my collections of each of the things mentioned you would know how serious of a problem they all are. But guys, I just can’t say no. I never buy new clothes or new shoes. But I will by myself a book and a lipstick. It all balances out right? I know I have a problem but admitting it is the first step right?

Can you relate to any of these items? What are somethings you can’t say no to? Leave a comment or hit me up on social media and let’s talk about it!

My Favorite Book Series of All-Time

Let’s talk about books. I always want to talk about books. I love books.

The following is a list of my top favorite book series of all time. Now I’ve read a lot of books in my day but these are the series I’ve become obsessed with at some point or another throughout my entire 25.5 years of life.
10. Nancy Drew

There was a good chunk of my childhood that was spent reading strictly Nancy Drew books. I fell in love with mysteries because of these books. Nancy, George and Bess were friendship goals and I wanted to be a part of their squad. My goal is to own all 64 of those books and I have all but 11. Nancy Drew mysteries are classics in my mind and they deserved a spot on this list.

9. Twilight

These had to be on the list because i would be lying if I didn’t say I was obsessed with these when I was in high school. They are truly captivating books and they probably deserve to be higher on the list but the movies and the hype and the all flack and shade thrown at these books has made me a little ashamed of them. They are the type of books and could make a non-reader to read them.

8. House of Night

Another Vampire series. HA! These books had me thinking about them even when I wasn’t reading them. It was a very unique and fascinating depiction of vamps that I never would have thought of and I totally got sucked into.

7. Divergent

I think this series speaks for itself. I stayed up way past my bedtime when I was reading these books. It was definitely a series that was more important to read than to sleep. It’s hard not to get caught up in the world and as everyone knows the books are WAY better than the movies.

6. Hunger Games

It took me a while to get into The Hunger Games. Several people asked if I had read them and were shocked when I hadn’t so I finally had to read them and figure out what the hype was about and I’m so glad that I did. Holy awesome. The characters were strong and I fell in love with them and you just had to root for them. It was one of the easiest series to lose myself in.

5. Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices

Yes, I know that these are two separate series but they are the same world and I decided to make and executive decision and group them together. Plus, you can’t have one without having the other. There is nothing bad about these books. Cassandra Clare did such a good job creating the world of Shadow Hunters that after one book I was obsessed. The way she weaved the two series together and connected all the dots perfectly just is incredible.

4. Daughters of the Moon

Each of these books maybe will take an avid book reader 3 hours max to read. They are an easy read but worth it. I was introduced to these in junior high and have read them several times since they are so good. Another group of friends that has unattainable squad goals and powers and adventures. Another reality I wish I could be part of.

3. The Study Series

Guys, these books are insanely good. These became more than an obsession. It started out as a trilogy but she’s added two more to the series.  I crave these books and these characters and the magic and the romance and the action and the mystery. The story is so good. Maria V. Snyder is one of my favorite authors because of these books. Everything she writes is phenomenal and binge worthy.

2. The Series of Unfortunate Events

When I was in fifth grade my teacher would read these books out loud to us. He would do crazy voices and give the story life. This is probably the first book series I fell in love with. It was the first book series I bought with my own money and waited patiently for each new book to come out. I hated the sly Olaf and I love those Baudelaire orphans. These books will always hold a special place in my heart.

1. Harry Potter

For obvious reasons this needs no explanation.

Some Honorable Mentions
1. Percy Jackson
2. Work and the Glory
3. Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites
4. Chronicles of Narnia
